Witness the spiritual and religious performance of "Barong: Ritual Theatre of Bali by Pinda Sari", as they showcases ritual celebration that involves music and dance. Hypnotizing music sets the stage for otherworldly spirits, impersonated and brought to life by dances, providing an all-around religious experience for the spectators.

Barong is an spiritual creature with big eyes, clacking jaws and layers of fur and is said to be the protector against evil forces. He is accompanied by Rangda, the fruitful but respected witch-widow and queen of black magic. Rangda is said to be frightening in every aspect of her appearance, with her fiery tongue, long pendulous breast and hair down to her knees. Legend has it that Rangda is the wrathful goddess Uma, who, in reaction to the wrong done to her by her husband created a plaque and pestilence on earth. Barong is the god Iswara who descended upon earth to disperse Rangda's evil. It is believed t hat their ritual establishes balance. Witness the ritual theatre performance this April at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre.
