Chakra - Swara Sandhya - Confluence of Sunset Melodies

One of the most unique characteristics of time-specific ragas is that they reflect the cycle of emotions experienced by each of us throughout the day, thereby stimulating different moods when performed at specific times.

As part of the ongoing Chakra series, Swara Sandhya - Confluence of Sunset Melodies presents a series of ragas written for dusk. Featuring Yaman (from the hindustani repertoire), also known asKalyani (its carnatic equivalent), among other sunset melodies that will be performed, Swara Sandhya is a confluence of sounds between the two Indian classical music traditions of the north and south. Pairing the sitar with violin, the tabla with mridangam, this jugalbandhi concert explores the grace and majesty, love and bravery, devotion and dedication that evening ragasevoke.
