Crossings highlights our commitment to produce dance artists for the world stage. The evening’s programme will feature both Western and Asian inspired dance works, showcasing the versatility of our student dancers across genres. Ms Rosalind Newman and Ms Mercedes Pablos, both faculty members from Purchase College, State University of New York, will present two works choreographed on the dance students during their concurrent residencies in January. Ms Newman's 'Still Life' was made specifically on the Dance students while Ms Pablos "Inside Out' was musically inspired to create an abstract neo-classical ballet. The programme also includes a new work by Young Artist Award recipient and independent choreographer Nirmala Seshadri, as well as two student works from the Composition Final Works module.
'Crossings 2015' continues to affirm both the rich traditions as well as the adventurous spirit that define and drive Dance at NAFA. Looking back but moving forward, we cross the boundaries of time and tradition.
