Catch the Nurulduha Islamic Ensemble as they showcases South Indian Muslim music, and witness how their music evolved through time.
During the 19th century, South Indian Muslims co-existed in Singapore. During the migration, they brought with them their own frame drums, or drafts. At the same time, they encountered the kompang - Malay frame drums, both intruments found their place in joyous occasion of this migrant community, be it in weddings or religious celebrations. The Nurulduha Islamic Ensemble became one of the local gems of Islamic Music. They pass on the traditions of the frame drum, and the group also provides a safe social environment for youths under the guidance of group mentor Mohamed Ali Jinnah.
