The Fairfield Choir started out as a group under the Music Society in the 1960s, as an all girls’ choir with a rich choral tradition. In 1975, the Fairfield Choir took part in the National Day Celebrations for the first time and choristers sang on board a float decorated by their very own school teachers. In 1977, the choir clinched the first position in the choral section of the Arts Festival as well as the Youth Festival. The choir was also invited to sing at the first Festival of the Arts in the same year. It became a mixed choir in 1987.
Over the years, the Fairfield Choir has won many accolades for its stellar performances locally and internationally, including the Silver award at the 2004 International Choral Festival at Riva Del Garda Italy and the Zlata Gold award at the 2006 Festival of Songs, Olomouc, Czech Republic. The choir also took part at the International Festival of Advent and Christmas Music, Bratislava, Slovakia, 2010.
At the Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging, the Choir had also achieved the Gold with Honours award in 2005; Gold awards in 2007 and 2009; a Silver award in 2012 and the Certificate of Distinction at the SYF Arts Presentation in 2013.
Highlights of this Limelight performance include Defying Gravity, For Good and Wade in the Water.
