Catch the epic clash between Brazil and Japan at Singapore's new Sports Hub on 14 Oct.
Japan, the reigning AFC Asian Cup champions, will be the home side in Singapore against Brazil, five-time winners of the FIFA World Cup. The event, part of the Gillette Brazil World Tour and the second major football match at Singapore’s new National Stadium after the visit of Juventus in August, ushers in a fresh era for both teams with new coaches and a desire to forge strong sides for the next World Cup in 2018 in Russia.
Dunga, a World Cup winner as Brazil captain in 1994 and a quarter-finalist as coach in 2010, took over as manager for the second time in July and is looking to rekindle the magic of his country’s football heritage. Japan also has a new coach in Javier Aguirre, who guided Mexico to the last 16 at the 2002 and 2010 World Cups and left Espanyol after the end of the La Liga season in May. He is looking to build a balanced Team Japan, also known as the Samurai Blue, based on defence, ball possession and attack. The match in Singapore will be a key part of Aguirre’s preparation for Japan’s Asian Cup defence in Australia next year.
