NUS Indian Instrumental Ensemble

Established in 1987, the NUS Indian Instrumental Ensemble celebrates the finesse of Indian classical music. The ensemble consists of five sections - veena, sitar, violin, tabla, and carnatic vocals. In addition to these, there are also musicians proficient in the flute, piano, ghatam andmridangam. Its performances mark the confluence of diverse styles of Indian music and a plethora of notes and rhythms. With over 50 members, comprising students and alumni, the group gives performances on campus twice a year and has had the opportunity of performing with Kanniks Kannikeshwaran, Grammy award nominee L. Subramaniam and famed Indian flautist B.V.Balasai. The group also performs as a smaller ensemble.
