Samrah AlWehdah Al-Arabia

Samrah AlWehdah Al-Arabia

Formed in 1998 and led by Alwi Alsagoff, this group consisted of music veterans who played puresamra (South Yemeni) folk music. In 2008, a new group of young Singaporean Hadrami Arabs took over these veterans, continuing the musical tradition, with the hopes of promoting peace and togetherness through their music. Representing the Arab Association of Singapore at special events, the group’s range of Arabic music covers that of Egypt, Iraq, the khaliji style, and other kinds of modern Arabic music.
