As the femme fatale for the Batman series (especially the ones helmed by visionary Christopher Nolan), Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle in the next installment The Dark Knight Rises. She joins the ranks of previous Cat Women Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry and will star alongside Christian Bale, who returns in the title role of Bruce Wayne/Batman.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story,” said director Christopher Nolan.
Bane, one of Batman’s most intelligent and physically powerful foes will be the linchpin villain in this movie and Tom Hardy has been selected to play the role. “I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies.” Hardy and Nolan had worked together previously on the mega-hit Inception.
The Dark Knight Rises is slated for release July 20, 2012.
