Other than the storyline about a superhero who's able to shrink in size, there was no nothing small about Monday night's (29 June) premiere of 'Ant-Man', Marvel's latest superhero to hit the big screen.
Directed by Peyton Reed, 'Ant-Man', stars Rudd as master thief Scott Lang, who, armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym
For Michael Douglas, the film offers movie goers a different perspective from the typical super hero flick.
"My best fun is whenever I had a break is that I would leave the first unit and then I would go down to the second unit, which was the stunt guys to see what they were doing. Third unit was the special effects and the green screen stuff. The fourth unit was the macro-photography of the ant, which is going to blow your mind. You've never seen the ant's perspective before and it is spectacular," Douglas said.
And while Rudd, who's better known for his odd-ball roles in comedies like 'Anchorman' and 'Knocked-up', is a perfect fit for the 'Ant-Man' suit, according to Reed.
"He also has this wit about him. He is such an amazing dramatic/comedic actor, there is though an inherent absurdity about Ant-Man, he shrinks and controls ants and Paul is so great as that character and acknowledging the weirdness of the basic idea," Reed said.
