If the M1 Fringe Fest whetted your appetite for more art offerings this early in the year, and you can’t wait for the Singapore Arts Fest, we come bearing good news! Don’t miss out on the NUS Arts Festival 2011, NUS’ flagship arts season boasting the best the student community has to offer.
Spread over a period of three weekends, there are close to 40 shows for you to choose from (hurry up, since we hear tickets are selling fast!). To sweeten the deal, 25 of the shows are actually free!
If you didn’t manage to grab some tickets (we hear they sold out faster than you can say “Hotcakes!”), don’t fret. There’s still plenty of variety available no matter what your fancy.
For a refreshing twist on the classic Alice in Wonderland, don’t miss Stories from Wonderland (Sun, Mar 20), a brave new world fusion sound performance combining film score, jazz, Chinese, Indian and European classical music.
Dare to venture through the Looking Glass, take a peek into the teaser trailer below:
Retellings of familiar favourites seem to be a hot topic this year, with The Good, the Bad and the Sholay (Fri-Sat, Mar 25-26) also tackling this topic. A fresh take on the 1975 Bollywood classic Sholay, the exploits of the play’s outlaw heroes give a perceptive and funny look to this touchingly comical coming-of-age tale.
