17 Jul – If you're one of those kids who'd always wondered where Genie came from (or maybe like us, you're more interested to know where to get your own Genie), all your questions will soon be answered with the upcoming prequel to 'Aladdin'.
Disney is planning a live-action prequel to the animated classic, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and it will be called 'Genie'.
If that title is anything to go by, the story must be heavily focused on the blue-skinned magical creature that grants only three wishes and lives in a lamp. The prequel will reportedly explore the realm of Genies and reveals how this particular one ends up in Aladdin's lamp.
The original 1992 movie follows the titular street urchin who uses Genie's magic powers to turn himself into a prince in order to marry Princess Jasmine.
'Genie' is just the latest in the string of classic movies that Disney is adapting into live-action flicks, including 'Beauty and the Beast', 'Mulan', 'Dumbo', 'Pinocchio' and The Jungle Book', among others.
