Films, Music, Dance, Parties & More!

It’s that time of the week again where you loosen up that tie and kick off those heels.

In hopes of steering you in the right direction to blow some of that steam after a hard week at work, we’ve got a mish-mash of exciting events and activities when dusk settles.

Whether it’s playing some beer pong in Marina Bay, getting cultured-up and catching a dance recital or dancing with wild abandon at the club, we’ve got it all.

Either way, there’s plenty to do so get up and get going already!

FOR CULTURE VULTURES

Don’t miss this graceful retelling of one of the greatest love stories. Romeo & Juliet, a Singapore Dance Theatre’s production, features a sweeping score by Sergei Prokofiev and soaring choreography by Goh Choo San.

Part of the Southeast Asian Film Fest, Refrains Happen Like Revolutions in a Song is director John Torres’ impressionistic essay film, shot on the Philippine island of Panay. It tells the tale of Sarah (Che Villanueva), a young woman who has arrived on the island certain that she will find love. Don't miss our picks of other highlights to the festival!

It’s not really a ‘cultural’ performance but hey… this homegrown musician and artiste is worth a listen, just for his many hits on local radio. Don Richmond presents Reset, an intimate evening of his new music at the Esplanade this Friday (Mar 25).

FOR PARTY ANIMALS

One of Germany’s top DJs and producer Paul Kalkbrenner will be holding fort at Velvet Underground this Saturday (Mar 26). One of the decade’s most innovative artists, his tracks are influenced by trance and techno, and uplifted by melodies which are polished to perfection. So don’t miss this one.

Our favourite American diner and bar turns two! Balls of Steel is OverEasy's 2nd anniversary party and the crew has lots of exciting party games in store, such as chomping on spicy meat balls, a beer pong showdown and more!

For a spot of clubbing on a glamorous tip, head down to Filter to catch DJ Vice. This LA-based DJ will be tossing out some hip hop and rock tunes for a crowd of recalcitrant party people. Email popbottles@filterclub.sg to get on the guest list.

And… that’s a wrap, folks! For more ideas on what’s happening this weekend, do check out our comprehensive events calendar. Lastly, don’t forget to check back next week for the best events that’s happening right here in town. Have a great weekend!
