First Look: Jamie Bell as The Thing in 'Fantastic Four'

The first time movie fans saw The Thing from 'Fantastic Four', the Josh Trank's reboot, it was a quick sequence of a rock "thing" bursting to life in the movie's first trailer in January.

Since then, clips of Miles Teller as Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic, Kate Mara as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, and Michael B Jordan as the Johnny Storm/Human Torch have also surfaced.

But filmmakers have left out Ben Grimm aka The Thing... until now.

Jamie Bell's The Thing is world's apart from Michael Chiklis' rubber-suited version, because director Trank opted to go with the motion-capture and CGI route for this strongman character.

"Jamie in real life is a tough guy," Trank told Empire movie magazine, "He exudes this strength. Ben is Reed’s best friend in the archetypal, spiritual way, and you want that character to have that warmth and that strength."

In this origin-story which opens in Singapore 6 August 2015, the four gain "powers" during an interdimensional-travel experiment. The event turns Reed into the elastic Mr Fantastic, Johnny into the Human Torch, Ben into the Thing, and Sue into the Invisible Woman, while another crew member turns into Doctor Doom (Toby Kebbell), the villain.

20th Century Fox has also released four new featurettes that reveal a little more about the characters of 'Fantastic Four'.

CHARACTER FEATURETTES

In these, the director talks about each of the actors who will portray the roles in the new film.

Trank speaks highly of Jordan, whom he has worked with on 'Chronicle' together.

The Johnny Storm featurette shows a lot of new footage and reveals that Jordan's character is a mechanic.

Kate Mara's featurette showcases Sue Storm in a number of environments, including a computer lab and in an action scene with Johnny Storm.

The video of Mr Fantastic shows Reed walking into a lab. Trank adds that Teller, 28, who plays the part, had originally auditioned for 'Chronicle' but did not get a spot in that movie.

On Bell, Tranks said that he had always wanted to work with the actor, and thinks that Ben Grimm is the perfect character for the English actor.
