Now you’ll be able to support Singapore’s finest athletes at the upcoming SEA Games with approximately half of the sporting events being free for the public to attend.
The announcement was made on 14 April by the Singapore Southeast Asian Games Organising Committee (SINGSOC).
After a 22-year hiatus, the 28th SEA Games will be held from 6 to 15 June 2015 in various sports facilities and venues around Singapore. Most of the facilities will be clustered around three areas, namely Kallang, Expo and Marina.
The decision to have free tickets to sporting events is a bid to make the upcoming Games more accessible.
Among the 36 sports that will feature are aquatics (swimming, diving, water polo), sepak takraw, wushu, golf, silat and sailing. Organisers have yet to confirm which sports will be free events.
However, more popular spots like football and table tennis will likely remain ticketed events. Ticketed sports will still be affordable, and range in price from $10 to $30. Tickets are expected to go on sale in November.
It will be the republic’s fourth time hosting the Games, after stints in 1973, 1983 and 1993.
