Specially for our tech-geek readers, we bring you a handy list of five hotspots offering FREE wi-fi to hit when you’re thirsty or up for some pub grub—just in time for The PC Show.
Not only are they located conveniently in the vicinity, having that much-deserved pint after a long day of ogling at gadgets won’t burn a hole in your wallet.
If you happen to lug around a 72-inch TV from the PC Show and in dire need of some malty goodness to perk you up, just cross the road to Paulaner Brauhaus. There’s free Wi-Fi on the first floor (hooray!) where you can hook up your latest buy while you sink your teeth into some yummy pork knuckles and savoury German beer.
All beers are one-for-one until 8pm ($13++ for 330ml), or you can tuck into the crispy pork knuckle and beer combo at only $39.99 (Saturdays, noon-4pm).
Within walking distance of Suntec Expo yet still far from the madding crowd, mosey down to the indefatigable Harry’s to down some ice cold pints while you lay your hands on your latest gadget. Its infamous Crazy Hours are… well, crazy.
With a little bit of something for everyone - pool tables, jazz music and sports screenings - this bar offers some of the cheapest drinks from 4-8pm every day. Indulge in $6 beers ($12 for a pint), house pours and wine by the glass - enough for you to go crazy playing Angry Birds on your new iPad.
Definitely a hot hangout for the tech-savvy and music-loving bunch, Timbre’s outpost at the Arts House is well equipped for all your networking needs (yes, we hear its chock-full of Wireless@SG users).
The best part? Their daily Happy Hour deals which include two choice pints (choose from Heinkenen, Guinness and Erdinger drafts) coupled with one of their signature pizzas priced from $30.
Its a favourite hangout for yuppies working in the area but we're pretty sure Boulevard will be swamped with tech-geeks come this weekend when the PC Show gets underway. Wi-Fi here is free access (yeay!) and there's great drink promos throughout the day (double yeay!). Beers (0.5l) go for $12.80 from 11am-5pm, $14.80 from 5-10pm and $18.80 from 10pm-midnight.
The grub's here pretty great too - pizzas from $24.80 and bar bites from $5.80.
After all that bargain hunting, its time to give yourself a treat with all that spare change that you saved. Why not take a break just across the street at Oscar's Sidewalk Terrace at the Conrad Centennial Singapore.
Tuck into its sumptous buffet spread (weekends lunch, $58++) of live seafood, roasted meats and desserts; all washed down with an ice cold Tiger Beer ($12.50) or Corona ($13.80) while you mess around with your latest buy (ask the friendly server for the Wi-Fi password).
Don’t miss out on The PC Show, at Suntec Exhibition & Convention Centre from 7-10 June. Admission is free.
