It is only September, but there is already something to look forward to this Christmas.
Adding some European flair to Singapore’s tropical Christmas, Gardens by the Bay will play host to a themed set-up called ‘Christmas Wonderland’ from 29 November 2014 to 1 January 2015.
Visitors can expect European-style festive markets, 12 days of Christmas carolling, and breathtaking light sculptures around the sprawling grounds that include the Supertree Grove and the Flower Dome.
MAGNIFICENT LIGHT SCULPTURES
Making their Southeast Asian debut are Luminarie light sculptures from Italy.
There will be more than 30 intricate light installations dotted around the Gardens and the Flower Dome, with the centrepiece being a 17m-tall and 31m-wide ‘Spalliera’ piece situated in the Supertree Grove.

A regular fixture in Kobe, Japan’s Luminarie light festival, these massive light structures are made up of thousands of individually-placed light bulbs that form spectacular arches. These could give Orchard Road’s Christmas lights a serious run for their money.
There will also be 19 wooden huts selling Christmas specialty food and beverages, as well as handmade crafts and gifts. These are modelled after German-style Christmas markets famously seen in Hyde Park in London, or along the Champs Elysses in Paris.
Housed in the Supertree Grove, the market will also have seven yet-to-be-named gourmet restaurants for some holiday feasting.

Another highlight will be the travelling "mirror tent" or a Spiegeltent. Only a handful of these tents, made of 1,000 pieces of wood, canvas, mirrors and stained glass, still exist in the world.
These hand-hewn pavilions can house about 400 visitors at a time, and will play host to diners onsite. This will also be the first time that such a tent is making a stop in Asia.

For those looking to be entertained by Yuletide tunes, an illuminated gazebo will host both youth and adult carollers, who will perform every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from the time 'Christmas Wonderland' opens until 28 December 2014.
Organisers said that more than 400,000 visitors are expected for the month-long celebration at the park. This million-dollar production will be a rain-or-shine event, and admission is free.
