Get Sky-high!

It’s been a few years (and a few delays) in the making, but the moment we’ve been waiting for has now arrived – Marina Bay Sands is finally throwing open its doors.

In a highly-anticipated Opening Celebration, the Marina Bay Sands resort will be holding a two-day gala extravaganza for VIPs, and ticketed members of public. Las Vegas Sands Chairman and CEO, Mr Sheldon Adelson, as well as a sizeable number of well-known industry leaders in fashion, entertainment and lifestyle, are expected to attend the opening’s press conference. Come evening, its gala red carpet event will boast well-known Singaporean celebrities, business leaders and glitterati.

Key highlights of the first day’s program (Wednesday, June 23) include the first-ever World Championship Climb to the Sands Skypark, which will see seven teams of three world-class professional climbers from over 10 countries internationally scale each of the three 55-storey hotel towers in succession, followed by a thrilling sprint across the length of the Sands Skypark to reach the finish line.

After the competition is concluded, skydivers will make a spectacular appearance over the resort and land in the Marina Bay reservoir to mark the end of the competition, as well as kick-start the evening’s entertainment program.

The closing event will be a star-studded music concert as a grand finale befitting of this special occasion. Hosted by Dominic Lau and with over 4000 people expected, the concert will feature both local and international celebrities such as Kelly Rowland, Jersey Boys, JJ Lin and Sylvia Ratonel.

The remaining 1598 hotel rooms including 230 luxurious suites across levels 50 to 55 of the hotel towers, more shops and restaurants and additional facilities at the Sands Expo and Convention Center will also be opened on June 23.
