Havana-Cultura: The Bar at Buena Vista comes to Singapore!

Have you ever wondered what a night out in Havana is like? If your answer is yes, there’s not a second to lose, as The Bar at Buena Vista: The Grandfathers of Cuban Music is about to hit Singapore.

The Bar at Buena Vista - The Grandfathers of Cuban Music hits the Marina Bay Sand’s Grand Theatre on June 29. It pays homage to the Buena Vista neighbourhood--the famous quarter of Havana and Cuba's music legends.  It is a dedication to the original spirit of the music of Cuba, the lifeblood of a people whose heritage is as rich as it is old.

Here’s what to expect:

At the heart of the musical is the Buena Vista Social Club phenomenon--Havana’s most famous bar of the 1940s, where legendary Cuban musicians gathered to play and entertain. A hive of dance and music, it later proved to be the cornerstone of a revival of interest in traditional Cuban music.

The celebrated cast is headed by the magic vocals of Reynaldo Creagh, who ignites the flame that started the whole Buena Vista Social Club phenomenon and is considered Cuba's last remaining living legend. He stars alongside legendary tres guitarist Maracaibo, a multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire and one of Cuba's most celebrated composers. Piano legend Maestro Rubalcaba from the Afro-Cuban All Stars weaves his musical touch into the group and has been dubbed Cuba's finest pianist. These three legendary Cuban masters are joined by Cuba's original diva, Siomara Avilla Valdes Lescay. Toby Gough directs.

The Bar at Buena Vista - The Grandfathers of Cuban Music happens from Jun 29-Jul 3 at Grand Theatre, Marina Bay Sands. Tickets $50-175 available from www.marinabaysands.com/ticketing from May 13.
