It’s time to dust off that Darth Vader helmet, superhero cape or any other comic or anime costume you secreted into that closet after last year’s convention.
The Singapore Toys, Games and Comics Convention (STGCC) returns for a fourth year running after a successful run last year which drew more than 28,000 fans and a total visitor-ship of 72,000. This year’s instalment will be held on 20-21 August at the Suntec International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
For the uninitiated, the STGCC is a two-day extravaganza of comics, anime, manga, toys and games features personalities from both East and West.
Comic book fans were treated to an appearance by some of their idols from Marvel Comics featuring writers and illustrators such C.B. Cebulski, Salvador Larroca and Matt Fraction.
This year, STGCC promises to delight, tantalize and inspire fans with up-close-and-personal opportunities with heavyweights and cult names in the toy, games and comics scenes. Organisers Reed Exhibitions Singapore and ReedPOP will announce this year’s line-up of artists and celebrities very soon.
Besides featuring work and creations from the heavyweights, there will be a special showcase for new talent from this region. Artist Alley is a special segment which gives aspiring artists an international platform to showcase their creative talent and artwork. Not just home to pop culture super stars, Artist Alley at last year’s STGCC saw the participation of over 40 talented rising artists from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines.
Remember to bring a big bag as we guarantee, there will be a lot of toy, games and comic book shopping.
Singapore Toys, Games and Comics Convention takes place Aug 20-21 at the Suntec International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Singapore. Ticket sales will open by July 2011. For more information about STGCC, visit www.singaporetgcc.com.
