The man who started it all, filmmaker James Cameron, has given the thumbs-up to the upcoming 'Terminator: Genisys'.
“It’s very respectful of the first two films and then all of a sudden it just swerves,” he said enthusiastically in a new featurette. "I feel like the franchise has been reinvigorated. This is a renaissance.”
“I had no idea what to expect sitting down, I had no involvement in making this film,” he added.

The 60-year-old also took a dig at 2003's 'Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines' and 2009's 'Terminator Salvation': “I think of the new film as the third film.”
He said he was won over by the new film’s key plot twist, which was given away in a recent trailer.
"It’s kinda cool, because you got to riff against expectations,” Cameron said. “It’s all about the twists.”
The director also gave a ringing endorsement for Emilia Clarke, who plays Sarah Connor.
"For women, I think she represents a kind of empowerment, yet there’s a vulnerability there."
The movie also stars Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, with Arnold Schwarzenegger (who played the original Terminator) returning to one of his iconic roles at age 67.
In the new storyline, John Connor once again sends his key lieutenant back in time to save his mother from machine terminators and ensure his own survival.
But when Reese arrives in the past, he discovers Sarah is no longer the innocent target seen in 1984’s 'The Terminator'.
“If you like the Terminator films, you’re gonna love this movie," Cameron said.
'Terminator: Genisys' opens 25 June 2015
