Music fans will be hit with more doses of musical goodness as kitschy disco pop act Scissor Sisters as well as Leicester rockers Kasabian will be rocking Fort Canning Park on January 9 and February 8 respectively.
A genre- and gender-defying mix of rock, pop, and dance inspired by burlesque, drag queens, and glam rock, New York's Scissor Sisters comprises of vocalists Jake Shears and Ana Matronic, along with multi‐instrumentalist Baby Daddy and lead guitarist Del Marquis.
Best known for their massively popular song "I Don't Feel Like Dancin", the group debuted in 2002 but only achieved prominence after recording a cover of Pink Floyd's "Comfortable Numb", which earned them numerous awards.
A month later, right before Laneway Festival, Fort Canning Park will be awash in lush rock-influenced electronica beats courtesy of UK rockers Kasabian. Founded by school friends Tom Meighan and Sergio Pizzorno, Kasabian was inspired by Oasis and The Stone Roses, and had been playing together for a few years when they decided to form the band.
The band took the British press by storm in the early 2000s by mixing traces of the Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, and Primal Scream with Oasis-sized confidence and DJ Shadow-influenced electronics.
The band will be in Singapore on Feb 9 in support of their their latest album Velociraptor! One of the year’s most eagerly awaited releases, Velociraptor!, includes stompers “Switchblade Smiles” and “Days Are Forgotten”. The band have been racking up those YouTube hits for the “Switchblade Smiles” video and “Days Are Forgotten” has already been chosen as the soundtrack for the new Sky Sports football season TV ad.
