Can you feel it already? As September looms near, the smell of burning rubber and the screeching of tires can be smelt and heard in the distance.
As always, the Formula 1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix is more than watching 30 Formula 1 cars screeching round streets of Marina Bay at 360 km/h at night, driven by millionaire drivers cheered on by their celeb girlfriends.
What makes the Singapore night race special is of course the entertainment. To keep petrol heads and non-racing fans (who’re there just to soak up the vibe) smiling, race organizers have unveiled a host of new entertainment features for Formula One’s only night street race.

“Unlike other grand race, the Singapore grand prix is not a normal race. We want to create a multi-sensory and multi-faceted experience for all race-goers. So every aspect of the race, from the entertainment, the food options, the design of the gates and even the ticket lanyards are carefully considered,” explains Michael Roche, Singapore GP’s executive director.
Joining headliners Linkin Park are Grammy-winner Shaggy, Youtube star Charice and retro icon Rick Astley.
Linkin Park will perform on race day (Sun, Sep 25) at the Padang Stage whereas Charice play the Padang on Sep 23 (Fri) and the Village Stage on Sep 24. Shaggy performs at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre on Sep 24 (Sat) and the Village Stage on race day.

For the Bay Grandstand at Zone 3, the crowds can expect to be delighted by a full blown water spectacle using 20 tons of water drawn from the Marina Bay in a show called “Ocean Symphony.”
Complete with full stage set-ups and special effect structures, the open-air Bay grandstand, which is also the backdrop for Singapore’s much-awaited national day grand celebration, will showcase Studio Festi’s interpretation of the elements with Las Vegas style theatrics and showmanship.
Transe Express, a group founded in France by Brigitte Burdin and Gilles Rhode, will feature acrobatic performances and aerial stunts with elaborate harnesses that feature a drummers’ theme. They will perform in Zone 4 on Sat and Sun.
For the other areas, Brazilian dancers, African Mambo-Jambo performers, Venetian-themed theatrical artists, Bollywood show artists and a number of gifted talents in the performing arts will showcase their talents.
