Madonna Performing in Singapore!

Madonna Performing in Singapore!

Yes it’s true. Madonna is performing in Singapore in October. However, don’t expect the Queen of Reinvention to take the stage at Home club.

The Madonna I’m referring to is made up of four fun-loving Aussie lads hell bent on having a true blue punk rock party. Fans of Ms Ciccone must be disappointed but seriously, you probably will have more fun with this Madonna. Nevertheless there are enough gigs this month to satisfy anyone searching for good live music.

PATRICK'S PICK

Tommy Emmanuel

If you have never heard of Tommy Emmanuel or been to one of his concerts, then this is definitely a must-watch. He has performed in Singapore a few times already and has always left audiences breathless and in awe. This Australian music legend is not just a phenomenal guitarist, he’s also a consummate entertainer. In the May 2008 and 2010 issue of Guitar Player magazine, he was named ‘Best Acoustic Guitarist in the World’ in its readers’ poll. If you’re still not convinced, just go watch his videos on YouTube.

Madonna

Two very exciting local bands, Amterible and Quick Quick Danger, are the support acts for Madonna’s debut show in Singapore. The ska-punk band from Melbourne told me that they were originally called ‘Maradonna’ but it was wrongly spelt on a poster once. Fortunately, THE Madonna’s management has not contacted the guys to change their name.

“I don’t think there will be an issue if they do contact us though. Our music is a fair bit different to hers!” said Craig the bass player. “Our live shows are like that feeling you get when you're late for a party, so you slam down a few beers to catch up and then you realise you're drunker than everyone else. If you just wanna have a good time party and vibe punk/ska come along! We heard Singaz loves to party!”

The organisers have promised that they will be plenty of food and drinks to go around, so drag your family and friends along to eat, drink, shop and hang out for a good cause. A portion of all food and beverage sales will be donated to two Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) – Singapore Environmental Council (SEC) and Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES). The first 120 guests who arrive and present their reusable shopping bag will receive a goodie bag stocked with eco-friendly products.
