While many of us may have popped by Marina Bay Sands to dine at one of the famed restaurants, spent a weekend in the hotel or indulged in a little retail therapy there, we have yet to celebrate the grand opening of Singapore’s first integrated resort.
Marina Bay Sands is organising its Grand Opening celebration on 17 February, Thursday to celebrate the opening of the destination’s key lifestyle and entertainment attractions including the world’s first ArtScience Museum, the premiere of Wonder Full Light and Water Spectacular, seven celebrity chef restaurants, and the upcoming opening of the much-anticipated Broadway musical, The Lion King.
The Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr. Lee Hsien Loong, will join the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Las Vegas Sands Corp., Mr. Sheldon G. Adelson, at the Grand Opening ceremony scheduled to take place at the entrance of ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands at the auspicious hour of 3.18pm.
Even though the event is strictly for invited guests only, members of the public will still be able to join in the celebrations and witness the event from the Helix Bridge along Bayfront Avenue. At 8.08pm, everyone will be able to bask in the glory of Wonder Full, when Marina Bay Sands’ nightly groundbreaking laser, light, water spectacular makes its debut with a repeat performance at 9:30pm.
With the lastest multimedia technology and special effects, this water spectacular will transform the waterfront every weekend with performances at 8:00pm, 9:30pm and 11pm on Friday and Saturday and 8:00pm and 9:30pm on Sunday. Starting 10 March, Marina Bay Sands will begin to run the shows on a nightly basis with two performances from Sunday to Thursday and three times on Friday and Saturday.
Also, if you’re a museum junkie, starting from 19 February, you will be able to get your first glimpse at all 50,000 square feet of the ArtScience Museum which features a permanent exhibition as well as major international touring exhibitions from the most renowned collections in the world. Tickets provide access to four opening exhibitions including “ArtScience: A Journey Through Creativity”, “Traveling the Silk Road: Ancient Pathway to the Modern World”, “Genghis Khan: The Exhibition” and “Shipwrecked: Tang Treasures and Monsoon Winds”.
