British comedian Michael Mcintyre is used to performing stadium-filling stand-up routines. He has played arenas and is a regular on primetime television in the UK. You’ve probably seen him on YouTube, but you can now watch him in the flesh when he brings his show to Singapore for the first time on 12 November at the Star Performing Arts Theatre.
A COMEDY POPSTAR
Mcintyre has gained a bit of a reputation as a comedy pop star of sorts. As one of the most well-loved comedians in the UK, Mcintyre has played sold-out shows all over the UK, including a ten-night residency at London’s O2 Arena. It’s something that only Rihanna has ever done. He’s also a regular on popular television series ‘Live at the Apollo’, with a slew of top-selling DVDs including 2012’s ‘Showtime’ and 2008’s ‘Live and Laughing’.
His brand of observational comedy is one that turns everyday situations in to laugh fests. Running commentary on everyday situations, like taking the Tube, becomes comedy material.
While a trip the gym inspired this:
His joyous mood is infectious, and if you’ve watched enough of his YouTube stuff, you’ll realise that even a quizzical eyebrow-raise elicits laughs.
He has since gone international, playing shows in Africa and a sold-out run in Dubai. Lucky for us, he’s coming to our shores.
