Seven-time Formula 1 World Champion, Michael Schumacher is confident that he will get a podium finish this race weekend.
The Mercedes F1 driver met 300 fans at the Mercedes-Benz Center on Alexandra Road on Thursday, 20 September 2012. “I think it’s time for us to get back on the podium,” he told the cheering crowd.
“But to be on the podium from where we are coming from, it’s already a success. We have a reasonable feeling that we can do quite well here,” he added.
Schumacher has proven to be strong on street circuits this season, clinching pole position in Monaco (before a grid penalty) and his only podium in Valencia in June since he made a comeback in 2006.
The veteran German driver has high expectations of the upcoming race. “Singapore is a one-off in lots of ways, with the city, racing at night and the circuit itself. It's a brilliantly unusual race. At first sight, everything seems more relaxed because the action happens at night, but of course it's not like that at all,” he said recently.
Schumacher trails race leader Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso by 132 points.
