Eighteen-year-old student Mio LIn was crowned this year's top SingTel Grid Girl at the Grid Girls Crowning event held at Tampines Mall on Saturday, September 17.
As well as walking away with $10,000 cash, she will also have the honour of bearing the national flag during the Singapore Grand Prix at the Marina Bay street circuit on September 25.
Runner-up Nadiah Binte Mohamed Halim, 20, received a $5,000 cash prize while second runner-up Khoo Shu Yun, 25, took home $3,000 in prize money.
The results were determined by a combination of votes and a panel of five judges – Chief Operations Officer, LG, Arthur Huang, MediaCorp artiste Rebecca Lim, Editor-in-Chief, 8 Days magazine Lau Kuan Wei, fashion stylist Fong Fan and Chief of Multimedia, SingTel, Mr Edward Ying.
The judges also awarded Tabitha Loke, 19, and Deborah Heng, 20 with special prizes and they each received a 32” LG TV.
This year's top 12 grid girls were chosen from over 500 applicants. They will be part of more than 55 SingTel Grid Girls who will be tasked with holding the national flag of each driver and the number of his car on race day.
