Just when we thought that we can take a break from all this superhero mumbo jumbo, Marvel Studios throws us a bone (a comic book one; ok, maybe two) in the form of a couple of sweet trailers for 2012.
Nic Cage is back as Johnny Blaze as our favourite flame-headed anti-hero in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. The film sees Blaze, aka Ghost Rider (Cage), hiding out in remote Eastern Europe and struggling to repress his curse. Blaze is recruited by a sect to take on the devil (Ciaran Hinds), who wants to take over his mortal son's body on the kid's birthday.
In the trailer, we first hear Cage giving a monologue and then doing his rider thang—fighting the baddies. The trailer also sees a boy who asks Blaze how it feels to pee when he's in flame mode, and the trailer ends with flame-head taking a ‘leak’.
Also starring, Johnny Whitworth as villainous Carrigan AKA Blackout, and Idris Elba as Moreau who is Blaze's comrade, the flick is going to be released in February 2012.
Next up is the reboot of our friendly neighbourhood web-slinger! The Amazing Spiderman starring The Social Network’s Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, as his girlfriend sees director Marc Webb spinning a new web (pun intended) on Peter Parker’ story arc.
The trailer web-slings you through the paces of meeting Peter Parker as the school nerd as well as introducing much of the cast--from Dr. Kurt Connors to Parker’s aunt and uncle. Then, after re-telling the origins of how Parker gains his abilities, it zooms into full Spidey mode through an exhilarating first-person roller coaster ride.
