Who says we don’t have a thriving creative entity within our rat-race obsessed society? Sometimes all you need is a little noise to silence the skeptics.
From 27 July to 1 September, Noise Singapore, an initiative of the National Arts Council, will be launching a trio of showcases featuring the freshest creations from emerging artists, designers, photographers, and musicians in Singapore.

This innovative platform, collectively known as the Noise Singapore 2013 Festival Showcase, will consist of the Showcase Exhibition, The Apprenticeship Programme Exhibition, and The Music Mentorship Concerts.
Admission to all of the individual showcases is free.
Showcase Exhibition @ ION Orchard (27 Jul – 14 Aug)
If you need a break from your retail therapy session, or if you’re just looking for a healthy dose of inspiration in the heart of town, then look no further because Noise Singapore’s got you covered with its first of three showcases.
From 27 July to 14 August, 10am to 9pm daily, the Event Hall located at B4 of ION Orchard will be imaginatively transformed into a massive space housing over 200 artistic creations.

Shortlisted from an astounding number of 9,000 entries, the works of these lucky budding talents were specially selected via a judging process involving several high-profile names in the industry.
These names include urban artist ANTZ, co-founder of art and design collective PHUNK, established photographer John Clang, and Young Artist Award recipient Robert Zhao Renhui.
The Apprenticeship Programme Exhibition @ SAM at 8Q (27 Jul – 1 Sep)
While many artists are naturally born with a gift, some just need to be pushed in the right direction to help fully spread their wings.
And with a focus on young visual artists, that’s exactly what The Apprentice Programme was designed to fulfill.

Over an intensive course of four months, 70 fortunate apprentices were handpicked to be paired with 23 esteemed mentors, with top-notch names like fashion photographer Geoff Ang, comic artist Troy Chin, and Justin Loke of Vertical Submarine.
Now you are welcome to catch their finely honed works from 27 July to 1 September, 10am to 7pm daily (till 9pm on Fridays), at Level 4, SAM at 8Q.
The theme of choice for their works follows that of the Singapore Biennale 2013 – “If The World Changed”. And who knows, you just might find the next world changer right here.
The Music Mentorship Concerts @ The Esplanade (16 Aug – 18 Aug)
But if you feel that art’s expressed at its best through music, then you don’t want to miss these three consecutive nights of music at The Esplanade from 16 August to 18 August. Specific timings and venues of the various performances can be found here.
Similar to The Apprentice Programme, this initiative was kicked off to lend a helping hand to aspiring musicians and bands who wish to make their mark in the scene and abroad.
The Music Mentorship also boasts music of all genres, from the ethical oriental sounds of SA Trio, to the cheeky pop tunes of The Animal Parade, to the colossal folk-rock of Sapporo Safaris.

These starry-eyed musicians were also coupled with music-savvy mentors, with professional names like Don Richmond, Saiful Idris of The Great Spy Experiment, and Sara Wee of 53A.
