12,000 cyclists will take to Singapore’s streets for the sixth edition of OCBC Cycle Singapore next year.
Endorsed by the Singapore Sports Council and the Singapore Cycling Federation, the 2014 edition will be held from 28 March to 30 March.
It will begin and end at the F1 Pit Building and is expected to draw 12,000 participants across its 12 categories which caters to all age groups and skill.
“Now heading into its sixth year, OCBC Cycle Singapore has established a reputation as a premier event, and we are confident that both participants and spectators will enjoy an outstanding event experience over the entire three days,” said Chris Robb, Managing Director of event owner and organizer Spectrum Worldwide.
28 March will see serious cyclists from the various Criterium categories (Women’s Open, Master’s and Men’s Open) challenge themselves in a short course format.
Another Friday highlight will be the Parade of Hope where 100 cyclists from the events’ charities (Singapore Children’s Society, SingHealth Transplant TRUEfund and SportCares) go for a 20-minute ride around the F1 Pit Building to generate funds and added awareness for their respective causes.
The main event, of course, will be the Professional Criterium race where you see 60 of the world’s best cyclists duke it out. Don’t forget to cheer for our very own OCBC Singapore Pro Cycling Team.
Saturday (29 March) will host some fun activities such as The Tricycle Ride (100m or 150m), The Mighty Savers Kids Ride (5km) and The Junior Challenge (30 minutes), as well as The Ultimate Foldies Challenge where you can see Singapore’s fastest and best-dressed foldable bicycles.
The event that every Singapore cyclist will be waiting for the past year takes place on 30 March.
The popular mass rides will see more than 10,000 cyclists cycling from the F1 Pit Building, across Singapore and past some of Singapore’s iconic landmarks in The Super Challenge (59km), The Challenge (39km), The Community Ride (24km) and The Foldies Community Ride (24km).
