Chief creative officer of Pixar, John Lasseter, animator Peter Sohn and the cast of 'The Good Dinosaur' celebrated the premiere of the film on a green carpet decorated with trees and branches on 17 November.
'The Good Dinosaur' tells the story of young apatosaurus, named Arlo, who is separated from his family. During his adventure to find them he develops an unlikely friendship with a human boy named Spot and together they travel through a harsh and mysterious prehistoric landscape. The film runs with the idea that dinosaurs were never extinct and now have to live with other species.
John Lasseter, who has been at the head of Pixar and Walt Disney Animations for several years, says the key for Pixar films is to develop a strong emotional bond between the characters and the audience.
"At Pixar we love entertaining audiences and to me, the kind of entertainment that I was always inspired by is the entertainment of Walt Disney. Walt always touched your heart and when we started making movies 20 years ago with 'Toy Story', it's the 20th anniversary of 'Toy Story', it was about that. It was about making stories that really deeply touched people's hearts. And, I tell you, I'm just so excited about the 'Good Dinosaur' because I think it's Pixar's most emotional film, I think it's Pixar's most beautiful film we've ever made," Lasseter said.
'The Good Dinosaur' is Peter Sohn's feature film directorial debut. Sohn directed a Pixar short in 2009 and has been a long time animator at Pixar.
