Award-winning R&B singer Rihanna is the second A-lister to join the Singapore GP’s bill this year.
The fierce femme, known as ‘RiRi’ to fans, will be headlining the Padang stage as part of her ‘2013 Diamonds World Tour’. Race-goers holding a three-day Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix pass (from $228) or Sunday’s Pit Grandstand special ticket ($988) will be allowed access to her concert.
At just 25, Rihanna has become pop and fashion royalty, dominating magazine covers, the internet and music charts. She was named one of TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people of the world in 2012 and became the most viewed star on YouTube last year, surpassing Justin Bieber. She is also the youngest singer to clinch twelve number one singles on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Aside from her own hot-selling records, she has lent her powerful vocals to other music icons like Coldplay, Eminem and Kanye West.
Her seventh and latest album, ‘Unapologetic’, is her most successful and edgy release yet, with British news website The Guardian calling it “all filthy lyrics and clashing dubstep drops”.
Fans can expect more of her wicked attitude and dance moves as she hollers hits like ‘We Found Love’ and ‘Rude Boy’ at the F1 weekend.
The F1 entertainment lineup this year include American alternative band The Killers, who will perform on the second night of the races, 21 September. More acts will be announced in the coming weeks.
