Art and photo junkies should head down to the National Museum of Singapore for Abbas, 45 Years In Photography (through Sept 18). Presenting a retrospective exhibition of 133 visually striking black and white photographs and four audio-visual clips by renowned photographer, Abbas. Having travelled around the world for 45 years, covering and experiencing important political and social events, such as the Iranian Revolution, Abbas’ photographs capture the struggles within different societies in a globalised world.
Another interesting art exhibition that’s worth checking out is Eyes That Tell Stories (through Jun 30) at the Red Dot Design Museum. This exhibition, organised by the Singapore Eye Research Institute, features images of the eyes of high-profile figures and celebrities such as Lee Kuan Yew, Glenda Chong, Fann Wong and others. Don’t miss Cold White Lies and Red Hot Scandals (through Jul 16), a music and dance performance that casts a spotlight on Elsie Barnes, an entertainment star who returns to the revue club she built with her husband, only to be publicly humiliated by his current mistress.
