The Shine Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary this year with a recharged three-day festival weekend (10 to 12 July) along Orchard Road.
Organised by the National Youth Council, this year’s theme, 'Build Your World', encourages young people to harness their individual interests and passions, collaborate and build a network of connections, and to reach out to the world at large with their talents. As with previous editions, there are plenty of activities lined up.
David Choi and Arden Cho
Check out the live performances by Charlie Lim, Weish, Radikal Forze Crew, Shigga Shay, The Zadon, Samba Masala and New Stream Brass Band, and appearances by homegrown YouTube artistes Night Owl Cinematics. International personalities such as dancer Lydia Paek, musician David Choi, model-actress Arden Cho and YouTube star Ryan Higa will also be in town.
One of the highlights this year is a youth talent development programme conducted by Choi, Cho and Higa, which aims to give participants the unique opportunity to be mentored by prominent personalities and artistes in the music-and-dance, urban sports, visual arts and pop culture sectors.
Sporting types will enjoy Sean Garnier showing off some freestyle football and Ryan Doyle's free-running performances, while art buffs may look forward to collaborative installations such as a 3D art installation and an interactive Art Tunnel.
The Shine Festival street party on Saturday 11 July will be held at the stretch of road from the junction outside Ion Orchard to the junction at Ngee Ann City. This will be closed for events and performances by international and Singapore artistes and influencers.
