It seems that no one can clip Sebastian Vettel’s wings as he stormed into pole position -- his sixth of the season -- at the Singapore Grand Prix.
Powering around the Marina Bay Street Circuit in a speedy 1 minute 42.905 seconds -- the fastest ever seen in Singapore -- the Red Bull Racing driver inches closer to his fourth title bid with this pole.
"It's a great feeling because it could go wrong but I'm very happy obviously with the result," Vettel said in a press conference after the race.
Coming in behind Vettel is Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg with Lotus’ Romain Grosjean in third, while Mark Webber and Lewis Hamilton takes fourth and fifth position on the starting grid respectively.
With race day just hours away, the 26-year-old German, who set two of the fastest times during qualifying on Saturday, is well on his way to win his third podium in a row in Singapore and his fourth out of the last five races.
"It’s one of the toughest races we face all year. I would say the toughest - physically and mentally - because it’s so long," Vettel said.
"Pole is the best position to start from, and I'm very happy with that as it is tricky to pass on this track."
