When the Australian indie music festival left its shores and made its first overseas stop to Singapore in 2011, with a dream line-up which included Foals, The Temper Trap, and Beach House, that was only the humble beginning of great things to come.
Three years later, the annual Laneway Festival is back with its fourth Singapore instalment on 25 January 2014, at The Meadow at Gardens by the Bay.
And once again it features a lineup which does not disappoint, boasting a diverse array of musicians who have been buzzing favourites in the indie music scene.

One can’t help but notice the particularly larger number of girl-fronted bands next year, such as Scottish synthpoppers Chvrches, the intimate songcrafters of Daughter, anthemic rockers The Jezabels, indiepop sister trio Haim, and the critically acclaimed post-punk of all-girl band Savages.
Besides the aforementioned The Jezabels, 2014’s Laneway Festival lineup will also witness the return of several bands who have performed in Singapore previously, like electronic duo Mount Kimbie, psychedelic performers Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and production wizard Jamie xx.

Other exciting acts include indie folk band Frightened Rabbit, Australian Madchester revivalists Jagwar Ma, esteemed singer-songwriters Vance Joy and Kurt Vile, the experimental electronics of 17-year-old XXYYXX, dream-pop extraordinaire Youth Lagoon, and soulful minimalist James Blake.

And the best part? This isn’t even slated to be the full lineup yet, with more acts just waiting to be announced in the near future.
