Stand Up For Singapore!

National Day is just around the corner! If you didn’t manage to cop any tickets and still want to feel patriotic, why not do some of these activities which may just make you break out in a national song or two.

Walk Back in Time

Take a journey back into Singapore’s history with Preservation of Monuments Board’s walking tours. Called Monumental Walking Tours, it explores Singapore's national monuments in the civic and cultural district. The tour also provides a detailed analysis of the architectural structure of these colonial buildings, including the purpose of certain structural designs.

The 11/2-hour tours are led by PMB's trained volunteer guides and student monument ambassadors who have an in-depth understanding of Singapore's historical monuments. One of the tours, A Debt to History, provides a detailed account of the history of public institutions, such as The Arts House, Esplanade Memorials, Former City Hall and Supreme Court that were silent witnesses to the important events and personalities in politics and war of pre-independent Singapore that also helped shaped modern Singapore.

Another tour, Coleman’s Classicstraces the legacy of Singapore’s first architect, George Coleman who built The Arts House and Armenian Church.
