Teaser For Sherlock Holmes Sequel Revealed!

The first Sherlock Holmes was a blast of fun. Centred on Robert Downey Jr.’s free-wheeling portrayal of the classic British detective, it blended a cat and mouse type plot with Guy Ritchie’s flair for action and came away with a solid if somewhat inconsistent film in the first outing. Now they’re back for another run, this time with some new faces.

First off, we have the new faces. Noomi Rapace from the Millennium Trilogy series (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) appears as a mysterious fortune teller and Jared Harris is the mysterious Professor Moriarty that was hinted at in the first film.

Of course, what made the first film tick so well was the intense bromance/rivalry that Sherlock and Watson have going on with each other. Jude Law’s portrayal of Watson in particular, makes the Doctor an equal to Sherlock instead of the sidekick role he usually had in the old stories. This allowed the two alpha males to do their thing on the screen, trading barbs back and forth. Especially with two premier actors like RDJ and Law playing them, it makes for a few great dialogue sequences, even in this short trailer.

We’re pretty excited for the sequel. Hopefully it’ll be a worthy sequel and going head to head with Mission Impossible in December is certainly a tantalizing prospect for us fans. We can’t wait.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows opens in theatres Dec 16.
