TGIF!: Your weekend guide (26-28 Dec)

How ever you spent your Christmas – partying with friends, cooking a hearty meal with your loved ones, or doing charity work – this is the weekend to recharge for new-year celebrations.

To enjoy more Christmas carolling, head down to Casa Armonia at 'Christmas Wonderland' for the last few special line-ups this weekend. You may sing along to familiar pop song and Christmas favourites with edgy vocals of MICappella at Gardens by the Bay.

They’re not from the backstreet, but these Lorong Boys can surely whip up a cool tune or two. Don’t miss these affable musicians at the Esplanade.

To tune in to more audio enjoyment, join the Mus’Art Youth Wind Orchestra on an adventure with 'Superheroes!', as they thrill you with music from comic books, movies and video games. Or take in some anglo-celtic folk-rock-pop by The Disclaimers with their vocal harmonies backed by acoustic guitar and electric mandola.

For those into literary pursuits, there is 'Where Authors Call ‘Home’ – The Balik Kampung Stories', featuring panel discussions and reading of short story anthologies. Listen to and reminisce with the writers as they share their experiences living in a particular district of Singapore.

For party lovers, check out Detroit house pioneer Delano at Darker than Wax. Or if you prefer to feel on top of the world, head to Ku De Ta for a sultry 'Sky High' night.

Over at Velvet Underground at Zouk, Detroit techno icon Carl Craig will be tearing up the dance floor with his brand of music. Don’t miss this.

And as we count our blessings this year, let’s not forget how our regional neighbours faced one of the most tragic natural disasters a decade back, caused by a massive earthquake in the Indian Ocean that generated devastating tsunamis in multiple countries. Understand the story of the survivors through the lenses of three Red Cross volunteer photojournalists.
