Festivals

Now in its sixth year, celebrate the freedom to love at Pink Dot at Hong Lim Park this weekend. Wear pink and join in the celebrations, including the traditional forming of the pink dot with all other attendees. DJ Aldrin, Broadway Beng and Dim Sum Dollies will be providing entertainment too. If last year’s Pink Dot is anything to go by, it will be a joyous occasion.

Music & nightlife

Singer, producer, DJ and multi-hyphenate Vanessa Fernandez AKA Vandetta is playing a solo show, Late Nite:Evolution by Vandetta,  at the Esplanade tonight.  As one of only three local acts at this year’s Laneway Festival, Fernandez is familiar with flying the flag for Singapore music. Armed with her nifty looper and stunning vocals, she’s a one-woman band. Expect reimagined songs and original numbers off her ‘Vandetta’ EP.

Queens of K-Pop 2NE1 are returning to Singapore with their ‘All or Nothing world tour’, this Saturday. Singaporean ‘blackjacks’ will be out in full force to catch the original girl hip-hop group from Korea. Expect fireworks, Harley Davidson motorcycles and slick dance moves from CL, Minzy, Bom and Dara.

Three days, four stages, and 36 bands. From folk and electronic, to post-rock and hardcore, it’s a sampling of fine Singaporean and regional talent from tonight through Sunday at Baybeats 2014. The girl to watch, Weish, from .gif will be playing this weekend too. Full schedule is available here.

Zouk x Mixmag presents German trance duo Cosmic Gate, one of dance music’s most enduring partnerships are playing at Zouk this Saturday. Who knows, it might just be the last few months of shows at Zouk.
