For more ideas on more things to do this weekend, don’t forget to check out our comprehensive events calendar. Have a great weekend and see you back here next week.
Among the other things, in the mixed bag this weekend, there’s a sneaker convention, a recital by a classical pianist and the international pole dancing championship.
Tonight, catch smooth, soul-stirring rock classics by Singapore’s very own Zul Tania as he plays at the Esplanade. He’s finally taking his rightful place under the spotlight. It’s for one night only, and definitely not to be missed. We hear the legendary Ramli Sarip will also be making an appearance.
Also at the Esplanade, world renowned pianist Lang Lang gives a recital, featuring three Mozart sonatas. He’s played for everyone from the Queen to President Obama. If he’s good enough for them, he’s good enough for us.
Here’s a preview of what to expect.
Lang Lang plays Mozart Sonata in B flat Major, K.333
You can also revel in the dramatic spectacle of theatre, superior fitness and Las Vegas-style pizazz at the International Pole Championship. Expect the elite of global pole dancers to be battling it out for bragging rights at the NUS University Cultural Centre.
Sneaker fanatics, listen up. Singapore’s first sneaker and streetwear convention, Sole Superior Singapore, takes place at Zouk this Saturday. While you can buy, sell and trade kicks, Nike will also be launching its Holiday’ 13 Nike Air Max Reflect and Nike Air Max Glow collections. You can even design your own dream Nike Air Max shoes. More details here.
You could even pick up a pair of running shoes just in time for the Standard Chartered Marathon. Who could pass up on the chance to get a ‘finisher’ tee?
If you’d rather chill out, there’s a beach party happening at Myra’s Beach Club, complete with live music, a sea breeze and plenty of alcohol for The Seaside Show this Sunday. Randolf Arriola will also be doing a live set with his unique live lopping, and layering with guitar. What a perfect way to end the week.
