March is settling in nicely, which means a quarter of the year has sped by already. If you feel like time isn’t moving fast enough, we’re always here to help you pack the weekend full of goodness. Here’s a round-up of fun and fancy things to do this weekend to make your free time worthwhile. Careful though, it might be over all too soon.
Mosaic Music Festival kicks off this week and it’s tough to pick a favourite from their impressive line-up, but you can’t go wrong with soulful crooner Joss Stone. At just 25 years old, this British singer has already scooped up two Brit Awards and a Grammy, released five albums and worked with legendary names like James Brown and Annie Lennox. Don’t miss seeing her perform her earthy, sensual hits like ‘While You’re Looking For Sugar’ while – most likely – walking around barefoot on stage.
Itching to throw on your dancing shoes? Dash down to Zouk for this month’s edition of Parallel, which features French techno producer Agoria as the esteemed guest. Having played in some of the biggest clubs and festivals around the world, his lush, innovative beats will have your feet moving in no time.
Take the whole family bargain-hunting at The Firestation Market, a flea market at The Old Fire Station. Plenty of creative handmade and second-hand gems are to be found while wandering through the stalls. When you’ve walked up an appetite, the folks from Spruce will be on duty to serve you warm, yummy meals.
For a dose of adrenaline, watch the skies at Sentosa for a free performance by the Breitling Jet Team, the world’s biggest civilian aerial aerobatics crew. The team will be making their debut in Singapore as part of their first South East Asian tour. You’ll be amazed by their perfectly timed loops, crossovers and rolls as they soar above you in their L-39C Albatros jets.
Who says the weekends can’t be fun and productive at the same time? Lomography Store Singapore will be holding a workshop that teaches you how to use multiple exposures to inject your photos with stars, nebulas, and other mesmerizing bits of the galaxy. The Sprocket Rocket camera will be the star of the workshop, and the store will loan you a camera and a roll of film to experiment with. If you already own a camera, bring it along to enjoy 50 per cent off the workshop fee.
