First it’s The Stone Roses and now it’s The Jesus and Mary Chain.
Music fans have lots of cheer come May 26 as the cult Scottish noise pop heroes make their way to Singapore for their debut concert here.
The concert is brought to you by promoter 4imaginaryboys, and it will be held at the Esplanade Concert Hall (7.30pm).
‘Darklands’ – The Jesus And Mary Chain
At the forefront of the noise-rock scene until their disbanding in 1999, the band was a seminal influence to countless post-punk, indie rock, noise and shoegaze bands that formed in their wake. Their most successful album is without doubt their debut from 1985, ‘Psychocandy’.
The band -- which reunited in 2007 after an eight-year hiatus and played Coachella the following year -- is scheduled to take the stage 19 May at Beijing's CMV Festival, marking the band's first-ever concert in mainland China, after which they will head here for their maiden gig.
The Jesus and Mary Chain performs on 26 May (7.30pm), Esplanade Concert Hall. Tickets $68-148 available from Sistic.
