Hugh Jackman returns as ‘The Wolverine’ this week and he brings with him a host of new heroes and villains.

‘The Wolverine’ is a sequel of sorts to 2006’s ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’ as well as a shoo-in for 2014’s ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’.

Directed by James Mangold (‘3:10 To Yuma’), ‘The Wolverine’ is loosely based on the 1982 ‘Wolverine’ comic book mini-series written by writer Chris Claremont and artist Frank Miller that documented Logan’s time in Japan.

Like in the comics, the events in ‘The Wolverine’ is also one of Logan’s darkest times, which Mangold has said will be very evident from the beginning of the film, due to Logan losing everyone and everything dear to him, and is at his most vulnerable.
