This Weekend: Chingay, origami, parties & more!

This weekend, a spectacular explosion of colour and rhythm will invade the F1 Pit Building as the Chingayparade, Asia’s grandest street and floats parade, moves into the venue. And as the mainstay favourite stilt walkers, pugilistic performers, and lion dancers strut and prance down the Parade, Firecracker Dragons from China will commemorate Chingay Parade’s new home in a fiery, dazzling display as they writhe and manoeuvre between lighted strings of firecrackers. 

Head down to the Toa Payoh Public Library to check out the handiwork of the members of Origami Singapore. Featuring intricate paper-folds, this exhibition is held to celebrate the club's one-year anniversary of holding workshops at the library, in conjunction with its 38th anniversary.

A Night of Syndicated Sounds

Homegrown electronica outfit Syndicate celebrates its second anniversary this weekend. Hit up Home Club this Saturday as DJs Funk Bast*rd, MC Masterpiece and KoFlow performs a special live set. Not to mention other guests such as Diphasic,  Saigon Kat, Butterfly Imprint, ILOH:SHIX, LoopTape, The Architek spinning alongside Syndicate residents Darren Dubwise and Kiat.

 

Detroit techno wunderkind Seth Troxler headlines Zouk this Friday. Troxler who is ranked the third best beatsmith in the world in Resident Advisor’s Top 100 poll, drops his heart-stopping techno gems on this night.

Don’t miss this ground-breaking exhibition at 8Q at SAMThe Singapore Show: Future Proof features artworks by an exciting mix of young artists with innovative and original art practices within their disciplines. Their strong and consistent presence in the local and international contemporary art landscape has helped enliven the local creative scene and inspired the birth of numerous other self-taught artists in Singapore.
