VIDEO: K Rajagopal on 'A Yellow Bird' and Cannes

Singapore filmmaker K Rajagopal premiered his debut feature 'A Yellow Bird' at the 2016 International Critics' Week showcase on 18 May 2016 at the Cannes Film Festival.

Here, he talks about his film, his cast and being selected for the festival.

In 'A Yellow Bird', an ex-convict Siva (Sivakumar Palakrishnan) returns home from prison after serving an eight-year sentence for smuggling contraband. 

He receives no forgiveness from his mother (Seema Biswas) who refuses to tell him where his ex-wife and daughter have relocated.

While searching for his family, he meets a Chinese prostitute (Huang Lu) and soon forms a strong bond with her.

The movie is competing for the section's Nespresso Grand Prize as well as the France 4 Visionary Award.
