A celebration of music & dance this weekend

Make this weekend a musical one as we list some of the events that are happening this weekend. Dance the troubles of the past week away as the island gets up and bobbing to the groovy tunes this weekend. We have done the hard work for you and picked the best of the lot. So go on, dust off those dancing shoes and have a musical weekend.

Bring along your picnic mat for a concert in the park this weekend. Local quintet Budak Pantai will be putting their very own tongue-in-cheek twist to favourites at the Fort Canning Park this Saturday. Look forward to a fun family time as they entertain you with their banter and their creative interpretation to popular songs.

To those of you who just crawled out from under a rock, firstly welcome back, secondly ZoukOut is this weekend. Sentosa’s Siloso beach will be pulsating with the sounds of international acts for two full nights this weekend. While the happy hour tickets are sold out, other packages are still available for purchase.

This Sunday, M1 is inviting the dancers among you to strut your stuff. Held at the Goodman Arts Centre, the event will be a spontaneous display of artistic expression among likeminded peers. There will also be guest performances by up-and-coming dancers like Yuriko Suzuki (Yokohama Dance Collection 2012 Jury Prize), Wong Jyh Shyong (Malaysia).

This weekend showcase you little Picasso talents on medium other than your living room wall. With every $50 spent at Tampines 1, you can enroll your child in the competition. Held in conjunction with their campaign to educate the public on being responsible pet owners, the competition is open to children ages 7-12 years old.

The Singapore Lyric Opera will be performing songs that evoke the spirit of charity and goodwill at the Esplanade concert hall this weekend. Join them as they celebrate the season of merry making by reminding us all about how we can make this period even more meaningful by performing acts of charity. There will be the added treat of having a guest performance by the Singapore Lyric Children’s Opera to entertain you.
