Drifting, shopping and Jason Mraz this weekend

This fun-packed weekend you can expect to attend several concerts, watch drift races and go shopping!

Firstly, local singer/songwriter turned internationally renowned artiste, Corrinne May will be performing at the official opening of Gardens by the Bay. Labelled Singapore’s very own version of Sarah McLachlan, May will be making her return from a 4-year hiatus at the Rhythm With Nature concert.

Along with May, well-known for his witty lyrics and feel-good melodies, Jason Mraz will be back in sunny Singapore as part of Rhythm With Nature as well. Mraz, commonly known as Mr A-Z, will be the headlining act at the Gardens launch. The standard ticket price is just $98 but it costs an additional $14 should you purchase it at the door. So what are you waiting for? Grab your tickets now and let Mr A-Z be your weekend ‘Remedy’.

Mraz will be performing on 29 June while May on 30 June at The Meadow at Gardens by the Bay.

If you prefer Canto-Mando pop music, you will be excited to know that the ever-popular iconic Hong Kong band, Grasshopper is putting on a one night gig this Saturday 30 June. The Grasshopper One Night Dance Show promises an evening of exhilarating performances, dazzling outfits, breakthrough dance choreography and captivating special effects.

Well, if music just won’t do for you and you’re more into action and all things fast, then this next event will give you the thrill you seek.

Formula Drift Singapore 2012 speeds into town

Achilles Formula Drift Singapore 2012 races to town this weekend. Not to be confused with Formula One, this event on the other hand is all about drifting. Yes, think The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift.

You will be able to catch speed demons like, Tengku Djan Ley from Malaysia who has been dubbed the “Prince of Drifting”, as well as the current Formula Drift Grand Champion, Daigo Saito from Japan, who will be racing to defend his title.

New Zealand’s Daynorm Templeman will also be part of the drift. Of course Singapore will be represented by our local team which consists of Jansen Tan, Ivan Lim, Felix Lim, Vincent Ng, Jason Tan, and Geoveen Hi. So head down and support our local drifters!

The race course will be at Changi Exhibition Centre and tickets costs between $30-65 from Sistic.
