Mutant superhero ensemble movie 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' blasts its competition during its opening weekend and zooms to the top of the Singapore box office.
The seventh movie in the 'X-Men' franchise took in slightly more than S$4 million (about US$3.2 million) in ticket sales, capping a weekend where it knocked the takings of 'Godzilla' to second place.
The remake of the 1954 Japanese monster movie took in S$3.6 million on its opening weekend in Singapore, Box Office Mojo reported.

The opening weekend receipts surpassed all previous X-Men releases including 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine', 'X-Men: First Class' and 'The Wolverine'.
Worldwide, 'Days of Future Past' earned US$302 million in its first four days of opening, the biggest box-office haul for 20th Century Fox, overtaking 'Avatar' as the biggest global debut for the studio.
In the latest instalment in the Marvel Comics series, Hugh Jackman's sharp-clawed Wolverine travels back in time to try and save the mutants from future destruction. To alter history, he is drawn into battle with the blue, shape-shifting Mystique, portrayed by Jennifer Lawrence, in a US$200 million production.
